Peran Motivasi Belajar Terhadap Keterampilan Membaca Santri Ma’had Darul Hikmah Malang

Reading Arabic is one of the important skills that need to be mastered by students, especially in Islamic boarding schools. Behind the success in understanding Arabic texts, there is a learning motivation factor that plays a major role in encouraging the activeness and independence of students. This study aims to understand how learning motivation affects the reading skills of students at Ma'had Darul Hikmah Malang. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling based on their level of motivation and activeness in learning to read Arabic. Research data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data were analyzed descriptively by grouping findings to see the effect of learning motivation on reading skills. Data validity was maintained through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The study results showed that learning motivation plays a very important role in improving Arabic reading skills. Students with high motivation are more active in the learning process and have a better understanding of Arabic texts compared to less motivated students. Factors that influence learning motivation include internal factors, such as interest in Arabic, academic ideals, self-confidence, and learning independence greatly affect the level of students' learning motivation. Meanwhile, external factors include a supportive learning environment, interactive teaching methods, support from teachers and peers, and the role of the family.
