Penelitian ini menjelaskan pengalaman identitas birasial yang ada pada individu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengalaman identitas birasial dari karakter utama dalam novel “I am not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter” karya Erika L Sanchez dan bagaimana respon yang menegosiasikan identitas biracial karakter utama. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan untuk menganalisis penelitian dengan rinci pada narasil novel. Setelah data terkumpul, data dianalisis menggunakan teori identitas oleh Stella Ting-Toomey dan Tenzin Dorjee (2018) untuk menunjukkan bahwa narasi novel berkaitan dengan pengalaman identitas biracial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara pengalaman identitas biracial dan respon karakter utama. Berdasarkan hasil yang ditemukan, pengalaman identitas dan nerjuangan identittas dalam novel ini dijelaskan memiliki potensi untuk mempengaruhi proses individu dalam menegosiasikan identitas identitas, baik secara pribadi maupun social.
