DAMPAK PENGGUNAAN GADGET TERHADAP PERKEMBANGAN KOGNITIF SISWA

Penggunaan gadget secara berlebihan dapat memberikan dampak negatif bagi penggunanya, terutama dalam aspek perkembangan kognitif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh negatif penggunaan gadget terhadap perkembangan kognitif siswa di MTs Al Muchtari IBS, dengan mempertimbangkan pola penggunaan gadget mereka selama berada di jenjang sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian lapangan (field research). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan pencapaian akademik tertinggi cenderung tidak menggunakan gadget secara berlebihan selama kegiatan belajar di sekolah. Mereka memanfaatkan gadget sebagai alat bantu untuk memahami tugas dan meninjau kembali materi yang kurang dipahami, serta memiliki kemampuan self-regulated learning yang baik. Sebaliknya, siswa dengan pencapaian akademik terendah lebih sering menggunakan gadget di sekolah, termasuk dalam mengerjakan tugas, namun memiliki kontrol diri yang rendah dalam penggunaannya. Untuk mencegah kecanduan gadget pada siswa, peran orang tua dan guru sangat penting dalam melakukan pengawasan terhadap penggunaan gadget. Selain itu, perlu adanya perancangan aktivitas yang tidak melibatkan gadget serta penguatan kemampuan self-regulated learning agar siswa dapat mengontrol penggunaan gadget secara lebih efektif.
