Suggesting the Semiotics of the Qur'an: Critical Study of Muhammad Arkoun's Revelation Reason

Artikel ini ingin menjelaskan tentang pemikiran salah seorang tokoh Muslim liberal Muhammad Arkoun yang kontroversial yang banyak menarik perhatian para penelti terkait. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis secara kritis cara kerja Arkoun dalam membaca wahyu dengan pendekatan semiotika. Dengan metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif yang bersifat analisis kritis, dengan menggunakan pendekatan yang relevan antara lain pendekatan eklektik, pendekatan postmodernisme dan pendekatan ilmu tafsir. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa lewat analisis semiotika yang diterapkan oleh Arkoun terhadap studi al-Qur’an, dia berusaha menundukkannya dalam sinaran analisis linguistik, sehingga tentu saja berimplikasi cukup serius bagi nilai-nilai keagamaan terutama teks Al-Qur’an yang dia sebut al-Qur’an pada level dunia. Arkoun dengan begitu tidak ada beban, dan tidak begitu tertarik untuk mengikuti cara-cara berfikir kesarjanaan klasik maupun kontemporer Islam, tetapi justru dia begitu banyak menaruh perhatian bagi kesarjanaan barat, sehingga visi pemikirannya nyaris tersingkirkan dari wilayah transendensi. Ajakan Arkoun ini memang relevan bagi para sarjana muslim yang tinggal di Barat atau masyarakat kampus yang mendalami khazanah Islam dan peduli terhadap kritik paradigma teori yang didesakkan oleh tradisi intelektual Barat. Akan tetapi, bagi masyarakat awam atau Barat. Akan tetapi, bagi masyarakat awam atau mereka yang tengah merasakan ketenangan dan makna hidup melalui pemahaman yang tengah mengajarkan serba kepastian, tanpa banyak diskusi, pikiran-pikiran Arkoun akan dianggap bid’ah teologis
